Those
people who sit down at the Catalan
table have the pleasure to taste a
very delicious and nourishing cooking,
characteristic of a strong flavour
and original interpretations of the
produce of the land.
Barcelona can be proud of satisfying
every kind of palate, because its
most famous dishes are both meat and
fish-based. The most famous Spanish
speciality which reunites both meat
and fish flavours is the Paella, a
single dish where rice, meat and fish
are mixed together, but an holiday

spent
in Barcelona can also be a good opportunity
to taste unusual approaches like chicken
with crayfish. The fish-lovers can
pick and choose among delicious soupes
(suquet de peix), sea food salades
(zarzulea de marisco) and tasty mixed
fish grills (farrillada). For “meat-eatings”the
Catalan menu suggests-rabbit cooked
with rhum and duck with turnips, instead
those people who appreciate intense
flavours can’t refuse to taste
some big roasted onions (calçots)
or the typical sausages (butifarra)
adding one of the traditional spicy
sauces. A dessert which is whorty
of a such succulent meal, is without
doubt the Catalan cream, a typical
dessert spoon including eggs, sugar,milk
and cinnamon mixed together. Naturally
the Spanish menu doesn’t miss
good wines which go well both with
meat-for example a Priorat (a red
one) or with fish-a Penedes (a white
fruity one) or if you prefer, you
can decide to have a beer. |
